Your tasks at Geiger

  • Making sure the datacenter infrastructure runs smoothly day to day (compute, virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring)
  • Ensuring availability, performance, and operational reliability
  • Carrying out lifecycle, patching, and maintenance work
  • Handling requests, incidents, problems, and standard changes in the datacenter environment
  • Analyzing outages/issues and fixing them for good
  • Coordinating and managing external service providers
  • Supporting capacity and operations planning
  • Monitoring the infrastructure via monitoring & reporting
  • Running performance analyses and implementing optimizations
  • Automating recurring operational tasks
  • Creating and maintaining operations documentation and runbooks
  • Helping out on infrastructure and modernization projects
  • Providing technical support to other team members

What we’re looking for

  • Completed IT degree, training as an IT specialist (m/f/d), or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience operating datacenter or infrastructure environments
  • Very good knowledge in several of the following areas:
    • Datacenter operations
    • VMware (vSphere, Aria Operations / vRealize)
    • Microsoft Active Directory & Entra ID
    • Backup & recovery solutions (ideally Veeam)
    • Windows server environments
    • Automation (PowerShell)
  • Experience in day-to-day IT operations (run-the-business)
  • A structured, reliable, and responsible way of working
  • Strong focus on quality and security
  • Analytical mindset and solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical relationships
  • Team player with clear communication
  • Very good German skills
