Tasks at Geiger:

  • Ensuring the operational running of the datacenter infrastructure (compute, virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring)
  • Ensuring availability, performance, and operational security
  • Carrying out lifecycle, patch, and maintenance measures
  • Handling requests, incidents, problems, and standard changes in the datacenter environment
  • Analyzing malfunctions and sustainable troubleshooting
  • Coordinating and managing external service providers
  • Supporting capacity and operational planning
  • Overseeing infrastructure through monitoring & reporting
  • Performing performance analyses and optimization measures
  • Automating recurring operational tasks
  • Creating and maintaining operational documentation and runbooks
  • Collaborating on infrastructure and modernization projects
  • Providing technical support to other team members

What we're looking for:

  • Completed IT degree, training as an IT specialist (m/f/d), or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in operating datacenter or infrastructure environments
  • Very good knowledge in several of the following areas:
  • Datacenter operations
  • VMware (vSphere, Aria Operations / vRealize)
  • Microsoft Active Directory & Entra ID
  • Backup & recovery solutions (ideally Veeam)
  • Windows server environments
  • Automation (PowerShell)
  • Experience in operational IT business (Run-the-Business)
  • Structured, reliable, and responsible way of working
  • High awareness of quality and security
  • Analytical thinking and solution-oriented actions
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical contexts
  • Teamwork skills and clear communication
  • Very good German skills
