Project Description
After acquiring the shopping centers Rathaus 1 and 2, as well as the Monheimer Tor, the city of Monheim carried out a comprehensive urban redevelopment. The need for additional street space due to the opening of the Monheimer Tor to the Berliner Viertel led to the rerouting of parts of the Berliner Ring, Rathausplatz, and Opladener Straße.
A new roundabout was built in front of the bus station. The intersection of Weddinger Straße also had to be relocated, and parts of Berliner Platz were redesigned. Before the road construction, utility lines were relocated, and sewer work up to DN 900 was carried out. Sidewalks in the adjacent public and private areas received high-quality paving. Additionally, STRABAG AG, with the help of its subcontractor, planted five large oaks ranging from 9 to 12 meters in height.
To further improve infrastructure and enhance quality of life, two new trash boxes, a bus stop, and two traffic light systems were installed.
