What parking problems did the gyms have?

XTRAFIT Service GmbH is a gym chain with currently 17 locations in Germany. The joint project with Avantpark started at the end of November 2021 with the parking lot of XTRAFIT Köln-Ossendorf. The problem back then: the parking lot is right next to large office complexes. Since the parking spaces weren't monitored, the gym had to deal with a lot of unauthorized parkers. Some of them parked for up to 8 hours, blocking the spaces for gym members. This led to complaints and overshadowed the overall customer experience at the gym.

With Avantpark: fewer unauthorized parkers

Since November 2021, Avantpark's digital parking monitoring system has been installed in the parking lot of XTRAFIT Köln-Ossendorf. This system automatically monitors the maximum parking duration 24/7. The result: fewer unauthorized parkers. The gym's parking spaces are now available for its members again. "Thanks to Avantpark, this problem [many unauthorized parkers] was solved without us having to introduce a bulky barrier system," reports a representative of XTRAFIT Service GmbH. The management was so satisfied with the result that they decided to equip another gym, XTRAFIT Krefeld-Cracau, with Avantpark's system. The implementation took place in the summer of 2022.

Signage about the parking spaces

Users of both gyms' parking lots are informed about the license plate recognition and the maximum parking duration of three hours through signage before and on the parking lots. The three hours are more than enough for training and spending time in the wellness area for the members. Employees of the gyms can, of course, park for longer. Their license plates are listed on a whitelist for long-term parkers in the Avantpark customer portal.
