Project Description
The imperial post office in Bad Homburg was built in 1893. In 1945, the roof was completely destroyed by a bombing raid and replaced with a regular gable roof. In 2017, we were commissioned to reconstruct the historic roof structure. To keep the actual roof work dry, scaffolding with an emergency roof was erected across the entire width of the building. The upper floor was extended with a ring beam. The new roof was later to rest on this and the following steel structure. Since the interior was to be designed without supports, the steel frame had to be constructed in such a way that all loads from the upper roof closure and the belvedere could be directed into the outer walls. The new roof truss was integrated as a hip and gable roof using a wooden construction within the steel frame.
