Gotthard-Müller School, New Build Filderstadt

The new construction of the Gotthard-Müller School campus (elementary and community school, two-track) along with expansion areas for the Fleinsbach Realschule is designed in a flowing bio-design. The terraced building stands out independently and prominently in the diverse surroundings. The goal of the architectural concept is to create a lively school campus that promotes collaboration among all users and implements the new educational concept of "all-day school care."

Both schools are connected through a permeable spatial structure and meeting places, such as the foyer, cafeteria, planted schoolyards, the agora - a sunken courtyard, and more. Large glass surfaces connect the inside with the outside. Surrounding terraces provide direct access to the outdoors.

The facade plays an important role in multiple ways, serving not only as a thermal barrier to the outside but also as usable furniture, exemplified by the seating options at the windows. The facade cladding consists of perforated, colored metal plates and vertical wood paneling, each contributing to a dynamic appearance. Additionally, the facade houses all technical equipment, making it more or less invisible.

The space is divided into so-called learning houses, which include classrooms, group rooms, and differentiation rooms, based on the idea of individualized, cooperative, and social learning.
