The 2nd Trier lock was the third of 10 Moselle locks between Koblenz and Trier to be fitted with a second large chamber. Once finished, the new second lock has these dimensions: · Total length: 312 m · Usable chamber length: 210 m · Chamber width: 12.50 m · Lift height: 7.25 m The chamber is filled and emptied through longitudinal culverts. The gates for these culverts are run by electric lifting cylinders. The upper gate is designed as a radial gate and is powered by a hydraulic cylinder. The lower gate is a double-leaf miter gate and is powered by electric lifting cylinders. In November 2021, the lock was officially approved by the WSA and then put into operation.
