Project Description
As part of the 4-track expansion of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn, the existing 2-track line (line 3900) between Frankfurt (Main) West and Bad Vilbel, which is currently used by both the S-Bahn and other trains, is being expanded to 4 tracks. During this expansion, line 3864 is being moved south of line 3900 and will be used only for S-Bahn service in the future. The whole project involves building new bridges and expanding existing ones. Near the A661 motorway, the current tracks cross over the motorway, which runs through a cutting. For the two new tracks, a two-span in-situ concrete frame structure was built next to the existing bridge using the lowering method.
