Node L793 Wolbecker Street

The existing intersection at Wolbecker Str. / B51 bypass was transformed into a newly designed intersection with so-called "Dutch ramps." The intersection overhaul also included the construction of a new bridge on Wolbecker Str. over the B 51, retaining walls, and the basic structure for noise barriers along the B 51. At the same time, the B 51 bypass was expanded from two to four lanes and completely renewed.

In the process, many utility lines, drainage channels, and the lighting on Wolbecker Str. were newly constructed. Around the intersection, Wolbecker Str. and adjacent streets were completely redeveloped, including sidewalks, bike paths, and many barrier-free crossings. A particular challenge was building within the existing infrastructure, where only short-term closures were allowed. Overall, 12 construction phases were completed in six traffic phases.
