Project Description
The German Pension Insurance hired us to fix up their clinic access road 'Roderbirken' in Leichlingen. The main goal of the project was to repair the damaged spots on the road and add the right structural elements to make sure the same issues don't happen again. The road is about 12 years old and connects the 'Roderbirken Clinic' up on the hill with 'Hasensprung' road down in the valley. It has two lanes with a total width of 6.00m to 6.25m and a separate 1.20m wide sidewalk. There's a shallow utility line running through the green strip between the sidewalk and the road. Over a distance of about 690m, it climbs 58 meters in height, which makes for an average slope of around 8.5%. The road damage that needed fixing was located around station 0+460, over a stretch of 20-30m. In that spot, the edge of the road had slumped toward the lower embankment. This was repaired during the construction by installing an L-shaped retaining wall and improving the drainage with a trench system. Afterward, the sidewalk and the road were renewed over a length of nearly 70m.
