Project Description
The interchange structure at the Bonn-Endenich junction on the A 565 / B 56 is colloquially known as the "Endenich Egg" due to its egg-shaped design.
The superstructure is divided, similar to the existing structure, into two partial superstructures (one for each direction of travel) as follows:
· Northwest Superstructure
· Southeast Superstructure
The superstructure is to be constructed in an elevated position on a support and protection scaffold with lowering devices while traffic continues to flow on the A 565, and then lowered during a full closure once the concrete has hardened.
The replacement structure is to be built in such a way that the new bridge can be converted into a tunnel at a later date. The replacement structure would then serve as the tunnel portal.
Once the construction is completed, the traffic system will continue to be routed in an arch shape over the bridge, similar to the existing setup. During the execution, as many lanes as possible must be kept open.
