Project Description
The construction project 5-2 in Michelau is a particularly challenging bridge project. The curved layout and inclined cross-section of the structure present several challenges. With a three-span continuous beam totaling 156 meters in length, especially during the intermediate construction phases on scaffolding and between construction stages, demanding conditions have been created that are crucial for the development of the structure.
A standout challenge is the construction of the superstructure at an elevated position of about 1 meter, which is necessary due to the overpass of a railway line that remains operational during the construction. After the hollow box is prestressed and all temporary scaffolding and formwork are removed, the 156-meter-long superstructure is lowered into its final position using a hydraulically coupled lowering system in a process known as "stacking down."
