Project Description
Brauckmann & Damm is currently doing the earthworks for the new district heating tunnel under the Elbe! We're digging the start and end shafts for the tunnel boring machine, which will be up to 38 meters deep.
This project is a crucial step in transforming district heating production in Hamburg. The central power plants north of the Elbe are being shut down and replaced by a modern, efficient, and decentralized heating network. The climate-neutral heat will come from various sources like a waste-to-energy plant, a wastewater heat pump, and other energy-intensive industries south of the Elbe.
To reach consumers north of the Elbe, the new tunnel will be drilled about two kilometers west of the Elbe Tunnel on the A7, from Köhlfleethafen near Finkenwerder to Elbchaussee.
We're proud to be part of this forward-thinking project and to contribute to Hamburg's sustainable energy supply!
